Lessons Learned and Resolutions Made: 2016 in Review

Lessons Learned & Resolutions Made

This year has flown by.

I know everyone is busy getting ready to celebrate the beginning of a new year, but I wanted to take a moment and share a few lessons I’ve learned in 2016 and a few resolutions for 2017.

At the end of every year, I like to take a moment and reflect on the past 12 months. Each new year gives us opportunities for learning (whether you want it to or not) and I like seeing how I grew.

A screenshot of 2016 would show the birth of MississippiDarling.com, a trip to Detroit, attending my first NFL game, the births of two beautiful nieces, Geoff and I celebrating our second year of marriage, celebrating life with family and friends, beginning and ending of new fertility medicine (without positive results), and having our first visit with a fertility specialist.

Lessons Learned

I’ve learned to not take myself so seriously, that being random and weird is what makes me unique. That iPhones don’t swim, that I’m more sappy and sentimental than I previously realized, that I have the most amazing and supportive family, that even at 31 I still need my girlfriends, and that blogging is much harder than I thought it would be, but I love it. The hardest lesson I’ve learned this year is that the my struggles make me stronger and that being strong doesn’t mean facing life without help. Sometimes admitting that you need help or someone else to carry your burdens requires more strength than doing it on your own.

Resolutions Made for 2017

My main goal for this new year is to relax and enjoy life. I spend too much time focusing on things that I cannot control and I forget that life is short and to enjoy the moments that I have been given. Whatever God’s plan is for my life will happen in his time. Not mine.

I would also like to be a bit more organized. Have some tips? Let me know! There are a few closets that need to be cleaned out.  🙂

From my family to yours, have a wonderful and safe New Year. See you in 2017!
