Hey Y’all! I’m Joni – resident blogger, book lover, and pop culture junkie. Welcome to Mississippi Darling. I’m so glad you stopped by!
As I enter my 30’s, I find that I’m looked upon to have all the answers and I don’t. I, for one, feel that I am stumbling through life and I have the bumps and bruises to prove it. And from that, Mississippi Darling was born.
I created Mississippi Darling to connect with others who don’t have all the answers. Questions like: When are you having kids? Are you happy? Do you see your job as a career? Do you really need more books?
The answer: I have no idea!!! (Except for the books. The answer is ALWAYS yes!)
This blog is my journey through this crazy, jumbled, screwy, awkward life. Here you will find everything from my walk with God to my love of books and everything in between.
I am a wife to my wonderful husband, an aunt, a fur baby momma of two (you can find their shenanigans (and mine) on Instagram), a lover of books, and a dreamer. Traveling to new places and getting lost is one of my favorite things to do. You never know what you are going to find. I believe that there is always a happy ending and people are inherently good.
If I’m not snuggled up with a book and a cup of coffee, I’m probably binge watching Netflix.
I am an auditor by profession where I deal in risk and solutions. This leaves me with the desire for everything to be black and white and straight to the point (which it rarely is).
I am a native of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and I have lived here my entire life. Here in the south, we are all about Southern hospitality, which is just a pretty way of saying that we want everyone to feel at home.
James Farmer describes it best. He said, “The desire/connection to make everyone and everything comfortable, elegant, and enjoyable and we get it from our mothers & grandmothers.” This is the South.
We are not meant to walk through this life alone. At Mississippi Darling, I hope that you find peace in knowing that we are all stumbling through life (and that’s OK!) and join our community so we can stumble through it together.
I can’t wait to hear from y’all!
